How to Search Your Saved Reddit Posts
Reddit doesn't let you search your saved posts. You're stuck scrolling a flat list. Here are three workarounds, from free and basic to AI-powered.
How it works
Install the extension
Add Readdit Later to Chrome, Brave, Edge, or Arc from the Chrome Web Store. Takes under a minute.
Your saves sync automatically
Every post and comment you have saved on Reddit is imported and kept in sync - no manual work.
Organize, search, and export
Label, filter, search with AI, export to Notion, and let the agent surface what matters.
Reddit has no built-in search for saved posts. If you've saved hundreds of posts over the years and need to find one specific thread, your only official option is to open reddit.com/saved and scroll. For a few dozen saves, that's fine. For hundreds or thousands, it's completely unusable.
This is one of the most requested Reddit features that has never been built. Reddit's search works for subreddits and public posts, but it cannot look inside your personal saved list. The workarounds below range from free browser tricks to purpose-built tools that make your saves fully searchable.
Method 1: Ctrl+F browser search — free but only searches what's currently loaded on the page. You have to keep scrolling to load more posts, then search again. Slow and unreliable for large libraries. Method 2: Reddit data export — request your data from Reddit, download the JSON file, and search it with a text editor. Complete but clunky. Method 3: Readdit Later — syncs your saves into a searchable library with full-text and semantic search. The only option that works in real time and finds posts by meaning, not just exact keywords.
What you get
Method 1: Browser Ctrl+F
Open reddit.com/saved, scroll down to load posts, then press Ctrl+F to search the page. Only finds posts that are currently visible — you may need to scroll and re-search multiple times. Free but tedious for large libraries.
Method 2: Reddit data export
Go to reddit.com/settings/data-request, request your data, and download the ZIP file. Open the saved posts JSON and search with any text editor. Complete but one-time — you need to re-export every time you save new posts.
Method 3: Readdit Later (recommended)
Install the Chrome extension. It syncs every saved post into a searchable library automatically. Full-text search finds posts by title, body, or labels. Semantic search finds posts by meaning even when you can't remember the exact words.
Search by subreddit
Readdit Later lets you filter saves by subreddit, post type, date range, and read status. Find every post you saved from r/programming or r/personalfinance in one click.
Search with AI
Connect to Claude via MCP and ask in plain English: "find my saved post about negotiating salary." The AI searches by meaning, not keywords, and returns the post with a summary and link.
Search across the 1,000-post limit
Reddit only displays your last 1,000 saves. Readdit Later captures saves before they fall off, so your search covers your entire history — not just the recent window.
The problem. The fix.
