    Quick Verdict

Readdit Later is our product, so we have kept this comparison to what each tool's own website, pricing page or GitHub README says, checked as of October 2026, and we say plainly where another option is the better fit. Prices and features change, so confirm on each site before you commit.

Free, nothing to install: Bookmarkeddit or Updoot, both web apps you sign in to with Reddit. Bookmarkeddit says your data never leaves your browser.

Free full-text search with tags and a stored index: reddit-saved.com.

A permanent offline archive, and you are comfortable with Python: the open-source reddit-save or reddit-stash scripts. They cost nothing and you own the files.

You save on X, LinkedIn and other sites too: Dewey or ContextBolt Bookmarks, where Reddit is one source among several.

Browse your saves grouped by subreddit: Saved Posts for Reddit or Reddit Manager, both free.

A Reddit-only library with free search, AI features and exports to Notion or Obsidian: Readdit Later, with the limits covered below.

Do You Need a Saved Posts Manager at All?

If you have a few dozen saves and rarely go looking for old ones, Reddit's own Saved tab is fine. It is free, works on every device and needs nothing installed. The problems start as the list grows: there is no search, no tags or folders, no export, and Reddit only displays roughly your most recent 1,000 saved items, so older saves quietly drop out of view. Every tool below exists to fix one or more of those gaps.

    Readdit Later: Strengths and Limits

Disclosure: Readdit Later is our product.

What it does well. It reads your saves through the Reddit session you are already logged into, so there is no password to enter and no Reddit app authorization to grant, and it is strictly read-only on Reddit: it never saves, unsaves or deletes anything in your account. It keeps every save it captures from install onward, so posts that later fall past Reddit's 1,000-item display limit stay in your library. Search is free on every plan, including keyword search, filters and AI-powered semantic search. Saved comments are supported, and you can organize with labels, collections and notes.

What you pay for. Pro ($5.99/month or $49.99/year) adds unlimited AI summaries and labeling, auto-categorization, standard exports, a connection to AI tools over MCP, and 10 AI chat messages a month (20 on the yearly plan). Lifetime ($59 one-time) includes everything in Pro plus every export format, including Notion and Obsidian, and 30 chat messages a month. Basic ($39 one-time) covers every non-AI feature, including all exports, with no AI. A 3-day free trial needs no card and includes unlimited labels and read tracking plus 3 AI credits per tool; exports, auto-categorization and MCP are not part of the trial.

Honest limits. It only runs in Chrome and other Chromium browsers on desktop; there is no mobile app. The free plan shows all your saves for the first 7 days after install, then only your latest 100. AI features are paid. It cannot recover saves that Reddit was already hiding before you installed it. If you only need free search over a modest collection, Bookmarkeddit or Updoot may be all you need.

    Updoot

Updoot describes itself as a lightweight Reddit saved posts and comments manager. You sign in with Reddit, and its homepage lists a smart search that copes with misspellings, the ability to unsave posts you no longer need (or save them back), and temporarily pinning posts to the top of your list. Pricing is not shown on its homepage, so check updoot.app for current terms.

Good fit: you want a quick, clean interface to search and tidy your saves in the browser. Keep in mind: its homepage does not describe exports or long-term backup, so do not rely on it as an archive.

    Bookmarkeddit

Bookmarkeddit calls itself Reddit's missing save manager. Its site lists search, sync and organize features, and filters by subreddit, post type or content. It describes itself as free and privacy-first, says your data never leaves your browser, and says it does not store your Reddit information on its servers. It signs in with Reddit and asks for identity, history and save permissions; the save permission is used to unsave posts when you ask it to.

Good fit: free, private search and filtering with nothing to install. Keep in mind: because nothing is stored on a server, check how it handles saves beyond Reddit's 1,000-item view before treating it as a backup.

    Dewey

Dewey is a bookmark manager for several social platforms, including X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Reddit. Its Reddit page describes syncing your saved posts into one feed, sorting by subreddit, tagging, search by subreddit, keyword or username, and backing up saves so they survive deleted threads. Its pricing page lists a free plan with manual syncing, Pro at $10/month ($7.50/month billed annually) with automatic syncing, a $225 lifetime plan, and a $50 Export Pass valid for 48 hours. Its feature list includes PDF and CSV export, Notion and Google Sheets integrations, folders, tags and an AI assistant.

Good fit: you bookmark heavily across several networks and want them in one place. Keep in mind: if Reddit is the only place you save from, you are paying for platforms you will not use.

    ContextBolt Bookmarks

ContextBolt Bookmarks is a Chrome extension that keeps web pages and your X, Reddit and LinkedIn bookmarks in one library, sorts them into topics, and lets you find them by describing what you remember. Its site says the social bookmarks come in on their own. It is free up to 150 bookmarks; Pro is $6/month for unlimited bookmarks, cloud sync, export and a connection to AI tools such as Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT over MCP.

Good fit: one AI-searchable library across several sites. Keep in mind: the free tier's 150-bookmark cap is small for a large Reddit collection, and Reddit is one source among several rather than the focus.

    reddit-saved.com

reddit-saved.com was built to get around Reddit's 1,000-item cap. According to its About page, it signs in through Reddit OAuth with only the identity and history scopes, indexes your saved posts and comments into a full-text search engine on its server, and lets you group items with tags. Your password is never sent to it, and you can log out or delete all of your stored data at any time. It lists no price and links to a Ko-fi page for donations.

Good fit: free full-text search and tagging with an index that persists. Keep in mind: keeping your saves on its server is how it holds onto them, so decide whether you are comfortable with that.

    Saved Posts for Reddit (timkovi.ch)

Saved Posts for Reddit, at timkovi.ch/saved_posts, is a small open-source web app that organizes your saved submissions and comments by subreddit for easy browsing. It signs in through Reddit with identity and history access, and its source code and privacy policy are published on GitHub.

Good fit: a quick, free way to see everything you saved grouped by subreddit. Keep in mind: its site describes browsing by subreddit only; it does not list search, tagging or export.

    Reddit Manager (redditmanager.com)

Reddit Manager groups your saved items by subreddit and lists search (across everything or within one subreddit), removing saved items, exporting saved items to your computer, and viewing the thread or context behind saved links. Its FAQ says it is free, that data is fetched through your browser and not stored on its server, and that the developer has moved on from the project. Its Reddit sign-in requests identity, history, read, save and vote permissions.

Good fit: a free one-off clean-up or export. Keep in mind: a tool its own developer has stepped away from may stop working when Reddit changes things.

    Open Source: reddit-save and reddit-stash

reddit-save (github.com/samirelanduk/reddit-save) is a Python tool that backs up your saved posts, saved comments and upvoted posts to HTML files on your computer, including top-level comments and, where possible, linked images and videos. Running it again skips anything already archived. Setup needs Python, ffmpeg, a Reddit API client ID and secret, and your Reddit username and password in a local config file.

reddit-stash (github.com/rhnfzl/reddit-stash) is a Python script that backs up saved posts and comments to local storage, Dropbox or AWS S3. It can run automatically on a schedule through GitHub Actions, organizes files by subreddit, and can process the data export files you request from Reddit.

Good fit: developers who want a free archive they completely control. Keep in mind: you handle API credentials, setup and updates yourself, and there is no polished search interface.

    How to Choose

Where your saves live. Some tools only fetch your saves into the browser while you use them (Bookmarkeddit, Reddit Manager), some keep their own copy of your library (reddit-saved.com, Dewey, ContextBolt with Pro cloud sync, Readdit Later), and the open-source scripts write files you own. Only tools that keep a copy can hold onto saves after Reddit stops displaying them.

What access you grant. Read-only access is the safest. Tools that can unsave or delete for you need extra Reddit permissions; check what each one asks for on the sign-in screen.

What you save from. Reddit only, or Reddit plus X and LinkedIn? Multi-platform tools make sense only if you use those platforms.

How you pay. Free, monthly, or one-time. One-time plans (Readdit Later Lifetime and Basic, Dewey Lifetime) suit people who dislike subscriptions.

Whether it is maintained. Reddit changes its site and API over time. A tool that is no longer maintained can stop working without notice.

    How We Compared

Every fact about another tool on this page comes from that tool's own homepage, pricing page, FAQ or GitHub README, checked in October 2026. Where a site did not state something, such as a price, we say so rather than guess. We did not include user counts, ratings or claims we could not confirm on the tool's own site.
